It's Almost Christmas

This weekend was fun filled. Friday night we rented National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and ELF (two funny movies to get us in the holiday spirit). Saturday Cody and I went to the movies and saw YES MAN - Jim Carey is always so great in the roles he plays. Cody wanted to spend the night at his grandma's house so Bryan and I decided to grab some hot chocolate and drive around to see Christmas lights with our azcentral map. I can't believe how many lights and decorations some people put out. It must have inspired my husband because the next task on his "to do" list was to go to Walgreens and find more lights!!! We now have some competetion going on with our neighbors so by the end of this week, it will be funny to see how many lights we can fit in our front yard (oh boy some men). Yesterday I woke up early to go to my parents and do our annual tradition of making cookies, fudge, dipped candy canes, peanut brittle, and more cookies. I made up my trays for work, home and the in laws house but I can't even stand smelling them anymore. Everything had to be "taste tested" before giving away ; ) so now I am done with cookies for another year. Enjoy ~ A

Colds, Coldplay & Colder Weather

My friends who regularly check my blog (thank you) are giving me grief now that I don't update it often enough. Now that I know people actually read my blogs, it makes me want to blog everyday! So I can't believe that in just two days it will be officially December. Every year I plan on being done with my Christmas shopping early so there is no rushing around at the last minute. Most of my shopping is done, however I tend to pick up little things I see for my friends and family right up until the last minute (I can't help it). Bryan got our new LED lights hung outside last night, they look great, and plus they will save us money this year! Our Thanksgiving was quiet, Cody was at his father's house, so Bryan cooked all day while I laid in bed. I have been fighting "the sickness" that people catch this time of year. I am on my 7th day, but finally glad to have antibiotics in my system. Tiffany and I went to see Coldplay on Wednesday night, the day before Thanksgiving and even though I had been sick we still had a blast. We went to Johnny Rockets for dinner, nice comfort food for us and relaxed to some awesome music. I am just thankful Chris Martin didn't shout out Barack Obama again like he did on SNL, I would have been disappointed. It is beginning to feel a lot like Christmas, with the weather cooling down and the Xmas music cranked up, Bryan and I hit Best Buy and Walmart yesterday morning (Black Friday) and got a few more items. With the exception of the long lines, it was fun to do it together. I can't wait until tomorrow, we are going to Bryan's parents to celebrate Turkey Day with everyone, including Cody! Off to rest some more....

So we made it ~ after Cody falling and cutting open his knee we still got done with the Tour de Tempe in an hour and a half! Next year maybe "mom" will get herself a mountain bike, since my cruiser can't make it up those hills very good...pretty embarassing when I have to walk my bike up them! We earned ourselves some free tshirts, water bottles, stickers, pumpkin chocolate muffins and most of all an accomplishment of yet another fun filled memory with our family this year...priceless!

October - Time for Pumpkin Carving!

I love the start of the holidays ~ time to send my hubby to the attic to get my Orange & Black totes down so I can discover things I forgot I even had! Every year I enjoy buying Halloween knick knacks especially from Target once the items go 50-75% off! Only once a year I can feel like a kid again, alongside of Cody. I wish we could have Halloween for more than just one night. So much to do this weekend. Tonight we are going to the "Boofest" at the park near our house. Cody gets to wear his new skeleton costume, and I admit it freaks me out just looking at him! Bryan and I will eat our favorite state fair treat...fry bread with beans and cheese or maybe powder sugar and honey instead. Tomorrow we are getting up early to do the Tour de Tempe, a 14 mile bike ride through the city. We get to ride with 1500 other bicyclists through the ASU campus down Mill Ave and back to Guadalupe Road where we will start! Wish us luck, and may the best "cruiser" win : )

Next week we will be pumpkin carving with our neighbors, I can't wait to see whose pumpkin is the scariest, and of course we love eating those seeds afterwards.

There is a house down the street from ours called the "Residence of Terror" that has made CNN headlines last weekend, their house is a Haunted House year round and I met the guy living in it last night. The only normal bedroom he has is his master, I just feel sorry for the girls he decides to bring home. We have heard that even the adults are scared, should we attempt it and hope we don't have nightmares?

Have a scary Halloween, I know we will.....love Amy, Bryan and Cody
